Role Playing Therapy Groups

Utilizing role playing games as a form of psychotherapy unlocks our imagination and play in a way that brings fresh perspectives of ourselves and the way we are perceived by others.

So What is Role Playing Anyway?

Role playing is where team collaboration meets imaginative play. Role playing games are led by a game master who creates a narrative adventure for the party (or group of players) to embark on. While on this journey they will be faced with various challenges, triumphs, and rewards. Maybe you’ll find yourself face to face with a fire breathing dragon, or maybe you’ll get the opportunity to talk to the angry ogre and convince him to help you on your quest. In addition, the players get to create the character they want to play. If you’re like me and you grew up desiring to have powers that allow you to bend the elements of the earth at will, this is for you. Or maybe you’ve always wanted to know what it would be like to play a wizard, a warlock, or a charismatic bard. The best part about embarking on a role playing journey is the opportunity to work as a team and explore your inner imaginative child. Our motto at Epic Narrative is: If you can dream it, you can do it.

While we utilize an epic adventure to bring our players into new experiences, we also use this as a way to enter into some deep and intentional self-reflection. A new and exciting way to engage in therapy. A space for you to engage with your inner creative, expand your realm of possibilities, and be encouraged by other players.
